Indian Railways to Launch Sleeper Version of Vande Bharat Trains on Rajdhani Routes, Enhancing Travel Comfort

Railway passengers have some exciting news! The Indian Railways is planning to introduce sleeper versions of the popular Vande Bharat trains. These new trains are expected to run on the Rajdhani routes, enhancing the comfort of long-distance travel.

Currently, all Vande Bharat trains only offer seating arrangements. The sleeper version will allow passengers to rest comfortably during their journeys. The first look of the designed sleeper train is expected to be revealed next week during an upcoming railway exhibition in Delhi.


These sleeper trains will be manufactured by Kinet Railway Solutions, a joint venture between India and Russia. They plan to create a total of 120 sleeper Vande Bharat trains, which will include 1,920 coaches. The first prototype of this train is likely to be launched by June 2026.

Three companies have been awarded the contract to produce these sleeper trains. This includes the public sector company BEML, Kinet Railway Solutions, and a consortium of Titagarh Rail Systems and BHEL. The first two sleeper trains will be launched together, with the second one expected to be ready by October 2025.


This new sleeper train will come with modern features like security cameras, automatic doors, and a modular pantry. It will have around 1,130 seats, aiming to upgrade the overall travel experience for passengers.
