Seven Vande Bharat Train Routes, Including Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram, to Receive Coach Upgrades for Increased Capacity

The Railway Board has announced that they will be upgrading Vande Bharat trains on seven busy routes. This decision comes after noticing that these trains are often full, indicating high demand from passengers.

The routes that will see changes include Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram, Secunderabad to Tirupati, and Chennai Egmore to Tirunelveli, among others. The upgrades will involve adding extra coaches to these trains to accommodate more passengers.


Currently, there are eight-car and sixteen-car trains running on these routes. The plan is to increase the sixteen-car trains to twenty cars and the eight-car trains to sixteen cars, enhancing the service from 2025 onwards.

Officials have mentioned that the upgrades are based on passenger occupancy data from the current financial year. They expect to have new twenty-car trains ready soon, aiming to introduce more services as needed.


In the immediate future, the selected routes like Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram will be among the first to receive these enhancements, which will help improve travel for many passengers using these popular services.
