This article talks about the ongoing delays in train services in Kanpur, impacting many passengers this week.
This week has been quite troublesome for train passengers in Kanpur. Many travelers spent hours waiting for their trains at the central station, as none of the regular, premium, or special trains arrived on time. This included popular services like Vande Bharat, Tejas, Shatabdi, and Rajdhani.
On Tuesday, the situation did not improve, with 53 trains arriving late at the central station. For instance, the Vande Bharat train from Varanasi reached at 9:34 AM instead of the scheduled 9:26 AM. Meanwhile, the Baruni-New Delhi special train was a staggering 11 hours late.
Many other trains also faced delays. The Darbhanga-New Delhi special train arrived in Kanpur seven hours late, and the Lucknow Junction Tejas Express was delayed by nearly 40 minutes. The Brahmaputra Mail and Gorakh Dham Express were also significantly late, arriving eight and five hours past their scheduled times respectively.
While the fog has lessened over the last two days, making train speeds increase a bit, Monday saw the cancellation of two trains, and 12 others were late by several hours. Passengers had to endure the cold while waiting for their trains, with multiple services delayed by over two hours.
As the Mela season progresses, several special trains have been added to assist passengers traveling to Fatehpur. However, delays are still common due to fog. Authorities remain vigilant for passenger safety, and ticket counters have seen less crowd compared to automated ticket machines, which are actively being used.
