Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Puri–Koraput Express on Monday, July 6, 2026. This new service aims to provide better rail access and more convenient travel for the people of Odisha. The East Coast Railway will operate this train to connect the coastal city of Puri with the tribal-dominated Koraput district.
Puri–Koraput Express: Schedule and Route
The train (No. 18407/18408) will operate three days a week. It will depart from Puri on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and return from Koraput on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The route covers several important stations to help passengers across the state.

Along with the new express train, the government announced an update for the Brahmapur–Udhna (Surat) Amrit Bharat Express. This train, which previously ran as a tri-weekly service, will now operate on a daily basis to provide more frequent options for passengers traveling to Gujarat.
