Passenger Demand for Train Expansion

A new demand is emerging from passengers utilizing the Intercity Express that operates between Bhagalpur and Danapur. Passengers are advocating for the extension of this train service to Buxar, aiming to enhance accessibility for those traveling in West Bihar. Currently, the train, identified as 13401/13402, only travels to Danapur, forcing passengers to seek alternative transport options such as other trains or buses to reach key locations like Buxar, Dumraon, and Bihiya. This detour not only results in additional travel time but also incurs extra expenses for the passengers.

Importance of Expansion

The proposed expansion to Buxar is crucial due to its significance as a major railway station, serving as a departure point for a substantial number of travelers heading towards Patna, Banaras, and Delhi. Furthermore, passengers from nearby stations such as Dumraon and Bihiya are expressing their desire for direct intercity services that connect them to cities like Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamalpur, and Lakhisarai. This enhancement is expected to provide direct benefits to daily commuters, students, and traders who rely on efficient transportation options.

Request to the Railway Authorities

In response to these concerns, local public representatives and passenger associations have submitted a letter to the Railway Board and East Central Railway, formally requesting the extension of the Intercity Express to Buxar. They emphasize that this expansion would not only increase passenger numbers but also significantly enhance the overall utility of the train service. The current train details for the Intercity Express include train numbers 13401 (Bhagalpur to Danapur) and 13402 (Danapur to Bhagalpur), covering a total distance of approximately 231 km with 19 stops, including major stations such as Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Kiul, Lakhisarai, Barhia, Mokama, Patna Sahib, Patna Junction, and Danapur, operating daily.
