Indian Railways has officially extended the special train service running between Mau and Kolkata to accommodate higher passenger demand and ensure smoother travel during the upcoming months. The service will see an additional 10 trips in each direction, providing much-needed relief for commuters traveling between Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. A key highlight of this extension is the inclusion of a scheduled halt at Jha Jha station to improve regional connectivity.
Key details of the extended service:
- Train 05096 (Mau to Kolkata) will operate from July 22, 2026, to September 23, 2026.
- Train 05095 (Kolkata to Mau) will operate from July 23, 2026, to September 24, 2026.
- The service includes a new stop at Jha Jha station for passenger convenience.
- A total of 19 coaches will be deployed on this route.
Schedule and Timings
Train number 05096 departs Mau Junction every Wednesday at 13:20, reaching Kolkata at 08:50 the following day. Passengers at Jha Jha station can board this train at 00:50 on Thursday. In the return direction, train number 05095 departs Kolkata every Thursday at 13:20, arriving at Mau Junction at 08:40 the next morning. This train is scheduled to depart Jha Jha at 20:50 every Thursday. The announcement regarding this extension was confirmed by Sumit Kumar, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, and Saraswati Chandra, CPRO of East Central Railway.
Route and Coach Composition
The train connects several key stations, ensuring widespread coverage across the corridor. The route includes halts at Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Shahpur Patori, Barauni, Kiul, Jasidih, Madhupur, Chittaranjan, Asansol, Durgapur, Barddhaman, Bandel, and Naihati.
To manage the passenger load effectively, the train is configured with 19 coaches. This composition includes 2 SLRD coaches, 10 General Second Class coaches, 5 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 AC Third Class coach, and 1 AC Second Class coach.
