Modern Upgrades for a Vital Gateway
Shivanarayanpur Railway Station, an NSG-5 category station located on the crucial Sahibganj–Bhagalpur rail section, serves as a primary gateway for Bhagalpur, the ‘Silk City of India.’ Under Phase-I of the development scheme, the station underwent a transformation costing ₹17.94 crore. The upgrade focuses on blending modern aesthetics with functional utility, featuring a new, attractive entrance, a revamped concourse, and upgraded waiting halls.
Passenger convenience has been at the forefront of this project. The station now boasts LED lighting, advanced passenger information systems, and two passenger lifts to assist commuters. Furthermore, the construction of a new foot overbridge and barrier-free infrastructure ensures that the station is accessible to all, including Divyangjan. To honor the regional identity of the area, the station interiors have been beautifully adorned with traditional Madhubani artwork, showcasing the deep cultural heritage of Bihar.

Launched by the Ministry of Railways in December 2022, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme follows a long-term strategic approach to infrastructure.
