The Jhansi Rail Division has officially implemented a major upgrade to its operational infrastructure, significantly increasing the maximum permissible speed for trains across several key sections. These enhancements, confirmed on July 19, 2026, are designed to boost punctuality and ensure a more seamless travel experience for passengers traversing the division.

Key highlights of the speed enhancements include:

  • Datia-Dabra third line and Sandalpur-Sitholi CAB cabin: Speed increased from 100 km/h to 110 km/h.
  • Rairu-Jaura Alapur section: Speed increased from 90 km/h to 110 km/h.
  • Jaura Alapur-Kailaras section: Speed increased from 75 km/h to 100 km/h.
  • Banda-Khurhand (Khairar-Manikpur) second down line: Speed increased from 90 km/h to 100 km/h.
  • Hetampur-Dholpur third line: Speed increased from 80 km/h to 100 km/h.
  • Station Loop Lines: Speeds doubled from 15 km/h to 30 km/h across Udaypura-Tikamgarh, Khairar-Manikpur, and Jhansi-Gwalior sections.

Focus on Efficiency and Safety

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Aniruddh Kumar highlighted that these upgrades are a result of extensive infrastructure development and technical improvements. By allowing trains to travel at higher velocities, the division aims to streamline traffic flow and reduce transit times, which will directly benefit commuters and long-distance travelers alike.

Beyond just speed, the division has placed a strong emphasis on safety. To facilitate these higher speeds, three level crossings (gate numbers 476, 2, and 409) have been permanently closed. This move is essential to mitigate risks at intersections and ensure the safety of both road users and rail passengers. The doubling of speed limits on loop lines at various stations is also a strategic move, as it allows for quicker train movements and better platform management, ultimately reducing the time trains spend idling at stations.

These upgrades mark a significant milestone for the Jhansi Rail Division, reflecting Indian Railways’ ongoing commitment to modernizing the network and providing a faster, more reliable service across the country.
