Indian Railways has announced a series of operational changes affecting train services across the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and Southern Railway (SR) zones on July 29 and 30, 2026. These adjustments, which include full cancellations, partial cancellations, and rescheduling, are necessary to facilitate essential infrastructure maintenance, track renewal, and safety-related works. Passengers are advised to note the following key updates:
- Four express trains in the NFR zone have been fully cancelled.
- Seven NFR services have been rescheduled to accommodate safety works.
- Partial cancellations are in effect for two major express trains under the Southern Railway.
- Nightly train movements in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section are suspended from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Northeast Frontier Railway Service Disruptions
The disruptions in the NFR zone are primarily due to track settlement issues on Line-1 and Line-2 near New Harangajao station. While operations continue via Line-3, safety protocols mandate a nightly suspension of services. Consequently, the following trains are cancelled: 15617 Guwahati-Dullabcherra Express (July 29), 15618 Dullabcherra-Guwahati Express (July 30), 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express (July 29), and 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express (July 29 and 30).
Several other trains have been rescheduled for July 29: 15650 Narangi-Agartala Express (10:30 pm), 15649 Agartala-Narangi Express (11:30 pm), 15609 Guwahati-Sairang Express (11:30 pm), 15610 Sairang-Guwahati Express (9:30 pm), and 15611 Rangiya-Silchar Express (11:30 pm). Additionally, the 15612 Silchar-Rangiya Express will depart at 5:00 am on both July 29 and 30, while the 15646 Silchar-Charlapalli Express is pushed to a 4:10 am departure on July 30.
Southern Railway Infrastructure Works
In the Southern Railway zone, a Fixed Time Corridor Block for track renewal in the Madurai and Salem divisions has led to partial cancellations. The 20691 Tambaram-Nagercoil Antyodaya Superfast Express (July 29) will terminate at Vanchi Maniyachchi instead of Nagercoil. Similarly, the 20692 Nagercoil-Tambaram Antyodaya Superfast Express (July 30) will not run between Nagercoil and Tirunelveli, and will instead originate from Tirunelveli at 5:10 pm.
