Northern Railway has officially announced the extension of several special train services to manage the consistent surge in passenger demand across key routes connecting Delhi with cities in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh. In addition to these extensions, the railway has issued a long-term schedule update for the Banihal-Badgam-Baramulla section to accommodate essential safety infrastructure work, alongside special arrangements for the upcoming Alahazrat Urs event.
- Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin (Bi-weekly): Extended until August 30 from Indore and August 31 from Hazrat Nizamuddin.
- Udhna-Ayodhya Cantt (Weekly): Extended until August 25 from Udhna and August 26 from Ayodhya Cantt.
- Barauni-New Delhi and Darbhanga-New Delhi Specials: Extended until September 1, adding 31 trips each.
- Dhanbad-Shakur Basti Special: Extended for nine additional trips.
- Safety Maintenance: Select trains on the Banihal-Baramulla route will remain canceled until August 14, 2026.
- Special Event: Additional stoppage at Bareilly and a new unreserved train for Alahazrat Urs.
Expanded Train Services for Passengers
To ensure passenger convenience, Northern Railway is continuing operations on several high-demand routes. The Indore Junction-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Indore Junction bi-weekly special will provide nine additional trips in each direction. Similarly, the Udhna-Ayodhya Cantt-Udhna weekly special has been extended for the convenience of pilgrims and commuters. Long-distance travelers between Barauni/Darbhanga and New Delhi will benefit from the extension of services until September 1, with both pairs of trains contributing 31 additional trips each to the network. The 03639/03640 Dhanbad-Shakur Basti-Dhanbad Special has also been granted nine extra trips.
Infrastructure Work in Kashmir
Northern Railway has confirmed that three specific passenger services—74615 (Banihal-Baramulla), 74632 (Baramulla-Badgam), and 74628 (Badgam-Banihal)—will remain suspended until August 14, 2026. This decision is strictly for safety purposes, specifically to facilitate pre-BCM high-temperature destressing of Long Welded Rails (LWR). Passengers planning travel in the Kashmir valley are urged to check the latest schedules to avoid inconvenience.
Special Arrangements for Alahazrat Urs
In anticipation of the Alahazrat Urs taking place from August 6 to August 8, the Moradabad division has implemented special traffic measures. Train stoppages at Bareilly Junction have been extended to manage the influx of devotees. Furthermore, a special unreserved train, 04301, will operate from Bareilly to Saharanpur on August 8. Passengers are advised to keep track of these updates via the official IRCTC portal or the NTES app for real-time status.
