Passengers booked on the 26752 KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express recently faced significant travel disruptions due to an erroneous SMS notification. The message contained incorrect information regarding the train’s departure time, leading several travelers to miss their scheduled journey. Following the incident, South Western Railway (SWR) has confirmed that a full refund will be provided to all affected passengers as compensation for the technical failure.
Technical Glitch Behind the Misinformation
The incident, which occurred on a recent Friday, was traced back to a system error within the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS). As the technical arm of Indian Railways, CRIS is responsible for managing the automated SMS alert system that keeps passengers updated on their train schedules. In this instance, a malfunction within the system triggered the dissemination of false departure timings, causing confusion and preventing commuters from boarding the premium train service.
Commitment to Passenger Relief
Recognizing the distress caused by this oversight, South Western Railway officially acknowledged the technical failure. In an update released on August 3, 2026, the railway zone confirmed that the refund process for all impacted passengers is currently underway. By offering a full refund, the authorities aim to mitigate the inconvenience faced by those who were unable to reach their destination due to the faulty communication.
This incident highlights the reliance on digital infrastructure for passenger communication and the commitment of Indian Railways to address and rectify grievances promptly when technical errors occur. Passengers are advised to always cross-verify their train departure times through the official NTES app or the IRCTC website to avoid falling victim to any potential technical discrepancies in automated alerts.
