Indian Railways has officially approved the resumption of the New Delhi-Supaul special train service, bringing much-needed relief to commuters traveling between the national capital and Bihar. This decision follows a sustained demand from Supaul Member of Parliament Dileshwar Kamait, who highlighted the necessity of this route in the Lok Sabha. The service is specifically designed to manage the heavy passenger rush during the ongoing Sawan season.
Key details of the train service include:
- Train 04072 (New Delhi-Supaul) will run daily from August 6, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
- Train 04071 (Supaul-New Delhi) will run daily from August 8, 2026, to October 2, 2026.
- A total of 56 trips will be operated in both directions.
- The train composition includes 16 coaches, featuring AC-3 tier, Sleeper, General, and SLRD classes.
Operational Schedule and Route
The operation is a joint effort between the Northern Railway and East Central Railway zones. Train 04072 will depart New Delhi daily at 9:35 PM, reaching Supaul at 6:35 AM on the third day. In the return direction, Train 04071 will depart Supaul daily at 7:45 AM, arriving in New Delhi at 3:00 PM the following day.
This special train will serve as a vital link for passengers, passing through major hubs including Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Govindpuri, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Aunrihar, Ghazipur City, Ballia, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Shahpur Patori, Barauni, Begusarai, Mansi, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Khagaria, and Saharsa.

Railway authorities, including Samarth Gupta, Senior DCM of Northern Railway (Lucknow), and Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer for East Central Railway, have confirmed the arrangements. Passengers are strongly advised to check the latest timings and station stoppages via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app, the official Railway Helpline 139, or the official IRCTC portal before heading to the station. Given the high demand during the festive season, travelers are encouraged to book their tickets well in advance to ensure a smooth journey.
