As the nation gears up for Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, Northern Railway and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have announced a series of operational adjustments to ensure passenger safety and security. Key updates for passengers include:
- Train movement between Delhi Junction and Delhi Shahdara is suspended on August 15 from 6:45 AM to 9:00 AM.
- Multiple DMU and MEMU services, including the Delhi Junction-Saharanpur and Shamli-Delhi routes, are cancelled.
- Long-distance and local express trains will face diversions or short-termination at New Delhi and Delhi Shahdara.
- Commercial parcel booking and loading are suspended at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and two other major stations until midnight on August 15.
- Delhi Metro services will begin early at 4:00 AM on August 15.
- Parking facilities at all metro stations will remain closed from 6:00 AM on August 14 until 2:00 PM on August 15.
Railway Operational Adjustments
Due to the high-security zone near the Red Fort, Northern Railway is strictly regulating train movements. Passengers travelling on the Delhi-Saharanpur and Delhi-Shamli corridors should verify their train status before heading to the station, as several services have been cancelled or diverted.
