North Western Railway (NWR) General Manager Pankaj Sharma conducted a comprehensive inspection of Rewari Junction on August 19, 2026, marking his first official visit to the station since taking charge on June 2, 2026. During the site visit, the GM reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and passenger amenities, while expressing dissatisfaction with current maintenance standards. Key highlights of the visit include:
- ₹31 crore allocated for station beautification and development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
- Critical review of cleanliness, foot overbridge maintenance, and station parking facilities.
- Expansion of the station building area from 430 square meters to 1,600 square meters.
- Planned installation of a 12-meter-wide foot overbridge, five lifts, four escalators, and a new food plaza.
Focus on Quality and Accountability
During his inspection, General Manager Sharma addressed the station’s modernization efforts with a stern directive to local officials. He highlighted specific deficiencies regarding the cleanliness of the foot overbridge, the condition of overhead safety netting, and general management of parking areas. Sharma emphasized that all construction must adhere to high-quality standards and be completed strictly within the stipulated timeframe to ensure passenger convenience is not compromised.
Modernization and Regional Connectivity
The redevelopment project is part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to transform the junction into a modern transit hub. The new station design will feature aesthetic elements reflecting Indian cultural heritage alongside modernized entry and exit gates.
Beyond the station premises, regional connectivity is receiving a major boost. On August 3, 2026, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini approved a separate ₹207.29 crore Integrated Railway Overbridge project designed to replace three existing railway crossings in the city. Furthermore, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh held high-level discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on August 12, 2026. These talks focused on the need for accelerated construction schedules and the introduction of expanded train services to serve the growing passenger demand at both Rewari and Gurgaon stations. With these combined efforts, Rewari Junction is set to become a vital, modern gateway for the region.
