IRCTC's Rail One App Confuses Passengers by Removing 'No Food' Option for Meals on Premium Trains in Kerala

What’s inside:

This article explains how passengers can opt out of meal purchases while booking tickets through the Rail One app.

Many train passengers are having trouble with the Rail One app when trying to book tickets for premium trains like Rajdhani, Duronto, and Vande Bharat. They are unable to find the option to skip onboard meals, which has become a major issue for those who do not want to pay for food they won’t eat.

The problem started when the option to choose ‘no food’ was removed from the menu. Previously, passengers could easily decide whether to include meals while booking their tickets. Now, this option is hidden and can only be accessed by editing the passenger list, which confuses many users.

This change has upset a lot of passengers, especially those who travel short distances and do not need meals during their journey. Without the option to skip meals, ticket prices remain high, and many passengers feel forced to pay for something they do not want.

To opt out of meals, users need to log into the Rail One app, go to the ‘You’ section, and edit their passenger details. They can then select ‘No Food’ from the meal options. If booking for someone not on their list, they must add that person and choose the same meal preference.

IRCTC claims the issue was due to a technical glitch, which they say has now been fixed. However, complaints about the food quality on trains persist, and many passengers continue to express their dissatisfaction with the service provided.

Summary:

  • Passengers struggle to opt out of meal purchases on the Rail One app.

  • The ‘no food’ option has been removed, causing confusion.

  • Booking meals raises ticket prices for passengers not needing food.

  • Users can opt out by editing passenger details in the app.

  • IRCTC claims technical issues have been resolved, but complaints continue.
