Palamu Member of Parliament Vishnu Dayal Ram has formally urged the Union Government to establish a major railway wagon production unit and a mega maintenance center in the Palamu region of Jharkhand. He has also personally submitted a formal memorandum to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite the project.

By leveraging the availability of ample railway land at Garhwa Road and Japla stations, the proposed facilities would be strategically positioned to serve the massive freight traffic moving from Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) coalfields.

The proposed mega wagon maintenance workshop, specifically designed for Periodical Overhaul (POH) and Routine Overhaul (ROH), is expected to play a vital role in maintaining the health of the railway’s freight fleet.
