Which Stations Got the Junction Status?
The Samastipur Railway Division identified six key stations that serve as a confluence of multiple railway routes. The Junction suffix is officially added to signify that these stations connect more than one railway line. The list of the newly upgraded stations is as follows:
- Hasanpur Road Junction
- Sitamarhi Junction
- Saraigarh Junction
- Supaul Junction
- Kakarghatti Junction
- Shisho Junction
What Changes for Passengers and Operations?
The railway administration has clearly stated that the alphabetical and numerical codes for these six stations will remain unchanged. This means ticket booking codes will stay the exact same for passengers. All railway departments have received instructions to update their ticketing systems, commercial records, and operational modules immediately. Local authorities in districts like Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, and Supaul have already started preparing to update the physical signboards at the station premises before the March 2026 deadline.
How Will This Help the Local Public?
Adding the Junction tag helps passengers easily identify major transport hubs where multiple railway lines connect. This status formalizes the importance of these stations within the broader National Railway Network. Going forward, this official upgrade paves the way for better passenger amenities, increased freight handling capacity, and improved long-distance train connectivity across these districts.
