The Malda Division of Eastern Railway is making significant progress in increasing train speeds on the Malda-Bhagalpur-Kiul section. To ensure safe operations at 130 kmph, authorities have completed 316.8 km of metal safety fencing along the tracks. This initiative aims to reduce travel time and prevent accidents involving cattle or unauthorized entry on the busy route.
How will the 130 kmph speed upgrade benefit passengers?
The primary goal of this project is to enhance the travel experience by reducing journey times between major cities. ADRM S.K. Prasad mentioned that the travel time between Bhagalpur and cities like Patna or Howrah could decrease by 20 to 30 minutes. The installation of W-beam metal safety fencing ensures that trains can maintain higher speeds without the risk of cattle crossing or human interference. By removing level crossing gates and securing the tracks, the railways will also minimize the need for constant whistling, making the journey smoother and safer for everyone.
