Passengers travelling through Delhi Cantt station should prepare for significant travel adjustments as Northern Railway has announced major infrastructure upgrade works. Scheduled to take place from July 16, 2026, to October 13, 2026, this 90-day power and traffic block on platforms 2 and 3 will impact numerous services. Commuters relying on routes to Mahendragarh, Rewari, and Narnaul are expected to face the most significant inconvenience during this period.
Key updates regarding the upcoming disruptions include:
- A 90-day traffic block starting July 16, 2026, affecting platforms 2 and 3.
- Temporary cancellation of stoppages for 19 trains at Delhi Cantt.
- Over 70 trains will undergo platform assignment changes.
- Specific train diversions, including the termination of the Jaipur-Delhi Cantt-Jaipur Express at Shakurbasti.
Impact on Train Services and Routes
Starting from July 16, 2026, the Jaipur-Delhi Cantt-Jaipur Express (19701/19702) will originate and terminate at Shakurbasti station instead of Delhi Cantt. Several other prominent services will see their stoppages at Delhi Cantt suspended for the duration of the work. These include the Udaipur City – Yog Nagari Rishikesh Weekly Special (09609), the Bhagat Ki Kothi- Kamakhya Railseva (15623) (effective July 21 to October 6, 2026), and the Jodhpur-Delhi Railseva (22491), Sabarmati-Delhi Railseva (12915), and Bandra Terminus-Delhi Sarai Railseva (12216), all starting from July 15, 2026.
Additionally, while the Madaar-Rewari Special train previously saw a temporary extension to Rohtak to assist passengers from Narnaul and Rewari, this service will revert to its original Madaar-Rewari-Madaar route between July 16 and July 31, 2026, as the block comes into effect.
Advice for Passengers
Given the scale of these infrastructure improvements, railway authorities are urging all passengers to remain vigilant. It is highly recommended that travelers verify their train status and specific platform information via the National Rail Enquiry System (NTES) or the official Indian Railways website before heading to the station. These upgrades are essential for the long-term improvement of station facilities, though they require temporary patience from the traveling public.
