Bhagalpur railway station is set to get a second inquiry counter to manage the growing rush of passengers. The rail administration is finalizing plans to open this additional facility to reduce long queues and provide real-time train updates. Shivram Maji, CPRO of Eastern Railway, confirmed that the proposal is under serious consideration to improve passenger convenience at this busy station under the Malda Rail Division.
How the new inquiry counter will help passengers
- The upcoming inquiry counter will be technically advanced and directly connected to the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS).
- Passengers will receive instant updates on live train locations and platform number changes.
- Information regarding seat availability and coach positions will be provided accurately.
- The facility aims to divide the crowd into two parts, reducing the burden on the existing staff and the main inquiry center.
Current status and management of the project
Currently, Bhagalpur station operates with only one main inquiry center that runs in three shifts. The Eastern Railway authorities in Kolkata have received the proposal and are reviewing the technical requirements. While no specific inauguration date has been fixed, the project is expected to start soon following the recent progress reported on March 30-31, 2026. Local passengers have welcomed this move as it addresses a long-standing demand for better information services at the station.
