The Indian Railways has revised the timing for preparing the first reservation chart to improve passenger convenience and transparency. Instead of the traditional four-hour window, charts will now be ready 9 to 18 hours before a train leaves its starting station. This change helps travelers check their ticket status much earlier and plan their journeys with more certainty without waiting for the last moment.
Revised Chart Preparation Schedule
The Railway Board has defined specific windows for chart preparation based on the departure time of the train. This systematic approach ensures that passengers have ample time to verify their seat or berth status.
- For trains departing between 5:01 AM and 2:00 PM, the first reservation chart will be prepared by 8:00 PM on the previous day.
- For trains departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM, the chart will be prepared at least 10 hours in advance.
- For trains departing between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM, the first reservation chart will also be ready at least 10 hours before departure.
