Passengers traveling through Hapur Railway Station can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the official parking facility has resumed operations after a three-year hiatus. The parking area had been closed due to ongoing redevelopment work under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and issues regarding previous contract payments. Senior DCM Aditya Gupta of the Moradabad Railway Division confirmed that the facility at the main entrance is now open to the public.
Key details about the new parking facility
The railway administration has finalized a new contract to ensure smooth operations for the next three years. Here are the essential features of the service:
- Vehicle Types: Dedicated slots are available for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
- Daily Pass Benefits: Regular commuters will be eligible for discounts on parking charges.
- Management: A private firm has been authorized to manage the space and collect fees.
- Location: The parking is situated right at the main entrance for easy access to platforms.
Infrastructure boost under Amrit Bharat Scheme
The reopening of the parking area is a small part of the larger modernization plan for Hapur Railway Station. The station is currently undergoing a massive transformation with an investment of approximately 12 crore rupees. The aim is to provide airport-like facilities to railway passengers. Key improvements include:
- Construction of separate entry and exit gates to manage crowd flow.
- Installation of new lifts and escalators for elderly and disabled passengers.
- Provision of free Wi-Fi and upgraded waiting halls.
- Future plans for multi-level parking to handle increasing vehicle numbers.
Additionally, the Central Cabinet recently approved a significant project for third and fourth railway lines between Ghaziabad and Sitapur, which includes a bypass at Hapur to reduce congestion.
