Indian Railways will start direct train connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar on April 30, 2026. Northern Railway officials confirmed this on Wednesday. The Vande Bharat Express will make travel easier and save time for passengers traveling to Kashmir.
Who will flag off the Jammu-Srinagar train service
Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the PMO, will flag off the service from Jammu railway station. Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore will also be present at the event. This service was earlier planned for March 1, 2026, but was postponed.

The direct train will be very helpful for pilgrims during the Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 3. It provides a reliable option when the national highway closes due to bad weather.
