Residents of Bhopal have a reason to celebrate as the long-awaited Nishatpura Railway Station is finally set to welcome passengers. Following a series of discussions between local leadership and railway authorities, the station will be officially inaugurated on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The event will be conducted virtually by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from New Delhi, with Bhopal Member of Parliament Alok Sharma expected to join the ceremony on-site.

A Boost for Bhopal Rail Connectivity
The operationalization of Nishatpura station follows a successful meeting between MP Alok Sharma and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held on July 21, 2026. Although the facility was completed in June 2023 at a cost of ₹6 crore, it had remained non-operational until now. The decision to open the station marks a significant step in utilizing developed infrastructure to improve local rail connectivity.
Managed by the West Central Railway (WCR), the station is equipped with modern passenger amenities, including updated platforms and comfortable waiting areas. By adding a fourth major station to the city’s rail network, authorities aim to significantly ease the heavy footfall and traffic congestion currently experienced at the main Bhopal and Rani Kamalapati stations.
New Train Halts for Passenger Convenience
To ensure immediate utility for local commuters, the Bhopal Divisional Railway Manager has confirmed that two major trains will begin halting at Nishatpura station. Passengers can now board or deboard the Malwa Express (12919/20) and the Somnath Express (11465/66) at this new location. This move is expected to serve as a major relief for residents in the vicinity, saving them the commute to the city’s more crowded central hubs. With the station now fully operational, it stands as a testament to the ongoing efforts to modernize suburban rail services in Madhya Pradesh.
