The South East Central Railway (SECR) has officially launched a new bike rental service at Bilaspur railway station, providing a major boost to local connectivity for commuters. This initiative is the first of its kind within the zone, designed to offer an affordable and efficient last-mile transport solution for tourists, students, and regular rail passengers. The facility, which is located conveniently near the station’s coach restaurant, remains open 24/7 to cater to travelers arriving at any hour.
Key details of the new bike rental service include:
- Eligibility: Passengers must present a valid driving license and an Aadhaar card to rent a vehicle.
- Security Deposit: A refundable security deposit of ₹1,000 is mandatory for all users.
- Rental Rates: Pricing starts at ₹100 for a four-hour slot, scaling up to ₹400 for a full 24-hour rental period.
- Accessibility: The service is available 24/7 and is situated near the station coach restaurant.
The service was inaugurated by Principal Chief Commercial Manager Vijay Kumar, who was joined by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anurag Kumar Singh during the launch event. By providing immediate access to personal transport, the railway aims to reduce the dependency on unorganized local transport and simplify the commute for those visiting Bilaspur.
Future Plans for Sustainable Transport
Looking ahead, the railway administration is committed to modernizing the station’s transit ecosystem. Officials have announced plans to introduce e-bikes to the rental fleet in the near future. To support this shift toward greener mobility, the station will also establish six electric vehicle charging stations at the junction. These upcoming infrastructure improvements are expected to significantly enhance the passenger experience, making Bilaspur a model for seamless, eco-friendly transit within the SECR network. Passengers are encouraged to utilize this new facility to enjoy hassle-free travel across the city.
