The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has officially launched plans to construct a strategic underpass at the DPSG railway crossing on the Delhi-Meerut Road. This infrastructure project aims to resolve long-standing traffic bottlenecks caused by frequent train movements, providing a much-needed relief for over 500,000 daily commuters and residents in the surrounding regions.
- Project Goal: Eliminate traffic congestion at the DPSG railway crossing.
- Key Beneficiaries: Residents of Rajnagar, Kavinagar, Shastri Nagar, RDC, and the Meerut Road Industrial Area.
- Current Status: GDA has initiated surveys and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
- Economic Impact: Supporting 500+ industrial units and 50,000 employees in the nearby industrial belt.
Site Inspection and Future Planning
On Friday, July 10, 2026, GDA Vice Chairman Nand Kishore Kalal conducted a thorough site inspection to evaluate the severity of the traffic delays. Following the visit, he directed officials to fast-track the planning phase. The GDA is currently organizing technical tests and site surveys to draft a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR). Once finalized, the proposal will be presented to the Railway authorities and relevant government departments for final approval.
Improving Connectivity for Ghaziabad
The DPSG railway crossing has long been a source of frustration for travelers, with frequent closures leading to massive traffic pile-ups. By replacing this bottleneck with a modern underpass, the GDA expects to significantly reduce travel time and improve the overall flow of vehicles across the railway line. The project is particularly vital for the Meerut Road Industrial Area, which serves as a major economic hub for the city. With over 500 operational business units and a workforce of 50,000 people relying on this route, the underpass is set to be a game-changer for local logistics and daily transit. This initiative marks a significant step forward in Ghaziabad’s urban infrastructure development, ensuring smoother, safer, and more efficient movement for thousands of citizens every single day.
