The Ministry of Railways has reached a major milestone in the Gwalior-Sheopur Kalan gauge conversion project by officially inaugurating the Kailaras–Sabalgarh–Beerpur railway section on August 18, 2026. This infrastructure upgrade significantly boosts connectivity for residents across the Morena and Sheopur districts. To support this new section, the North Central Railway has extended three pairs of MEMU train services to Beerpur, ensuring better mobility for daily commuters in the region.
- New Section Opened: The Kailaras–Sabalgarh–Beerpur stretch is now operational.
- Extended Services: Three pairs of MEMU trains (64635/64636, 64637/64638, and 64639/64640) now run up to Beerpur.
- Rake Details: Operations will be conducted using 8-coach MEMU rakes.
- Maintenance: Primary maintenance is stationed at Kanpur Central, with new RBPC facilities established at Beerpur.
Revised Train Schedules and Operations
Following an urgent directive from the Railway Board, the Prayagraj Division has streamlined the schedule to ensure efficient transit. The trains are slated to make commercial stops at all stations along the newly extended route, providing vital connectivity to smaller towns previously underserved by rail.
For passengers planning their travel, the revised timings are as follows: Train 64639 departs Gwalior at 3:00 PM and reaches Beerpur at 7:15 PM, with the return Train 64640 departing Beerpur at 9:23 PM to arrive in Gwalior at 12:05 AM. Additionally, Train 64637 leaves Gwalior at 12:00 PM, arriving in Beerpur at 4:15 PM, while the return Train 64638 departs Beerpur at 6:38 PM, reaching Gwalior at 9:10 PM.
This expansion is part of a broader push to modernize the narrow-gauge lines in Madhya Pradesh, transforming them into reliable broad-gauge corridors. The introduction of these MEMU services is expected to reduce travel time and provide a comfortable, affordable transport alternative for local traders, students, and daily wage earners traveling between the Morena and Sheopur districts.
