The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 761 km long Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor is now complete. Telangana Road and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced the completion on April 27, 2026. This project aims to connect major cities in South and West India with a high-speed network that will reduce travel time from several hours to just a few.

What is the expected travel time and speed

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared that the new network will make travel much faster. Passengers will be able to travel from Hyderabad to Pune in 1 hour 55 minutes and from Pune to Mumbai in 48 minutes. The trains are expected to run at a speed of 330 km/h and can reach a maximum speed of 350 km/h. The total journey between Hyderabad and Mumbai will take around 3 to 3.5 hours.

Project details and proposed stations

The project will use Japanese E5 Shinkansen technology, including advanced signaling and earthquake detection systems. The corridor will span between 711 km and 767 km and will feature 11 to 12 stations. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is the main agency for implementation.
