Indian Railways has reached a significant milestone in its nationwide infrastructure upgrade by completing the installation of approximately 19,700 kilometers of safety fencing. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared these details in the Lok Sabha, highlighting the initiative as a core component of the national strategy to modernize rail travel.
Focus on High-Speed Operations and Safety
Beyond the immediate goal of preventing trespassing, the fencing project is a strategic move to facilitate faster train operations at speeds of 130 kmph and above. By securing the tracks, the railways can reduce the frequency of emergency braking caused by obstacles, leading to more reliable and punctual services. This initiative is part of a larger plan to enhance the efficiency of the national network, ensuring that high-speed trains like Vande Bharat can operate with greater consistency.
