During the site visit, officials prioritized the passenger experience by addressing immediate infrastructure needs. Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Amenities) Dilip Kumar confirmed that the railway is proactively planning for the upcoming Shravan month. To assist devotees traveling to Baba Dham, a proposal is being finalized to operate the Koderma-Madhupur passenger train on Sundays, commencing from July 29.
Koderma Junction holds significant importance for the Dhanbad Railway Division, currently processing an average of 6,500 ticket sales daily and ranking as the second-highest revenue generator in the division.
Amrit Bharat Station Project and Future Outlook
Koderma is undergoing a major transformation under the Prime Minister’s Amrit Bharat Station Project. The upcoming three-storey station building, scheduled for completion by March 2026, is designed to offer airport-like facilities. Passengers can look forward to air-conditioned waiting areas, modern reservation counters, dedicated IRCTC food services, and enhanced accessibility through new lifts and escalators. The design also incorporates comprehensive medical services and improved parking facilities to accommodate the growing footfall.
The broader 118-year-old Koderma-Gaya rail section is currently seeing massive investment, with projects totaling Rs 190.31 crore. This includes the modernization of stations like Paharpur, which is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 28 crore, alongside the construction of essential road overbridges, underpasses, and foot overbridges to ensure safer transit for both rail and road users.
