Indian Railways is gearing up for the upcoming Shravani Mela, which is expected to commence around July 30, 2026. To ensure seamless travel for thousands of devotees, Eastern Railway and the Ranchi Division have announced ten new special trains. These services are specifically designed to improve connectivity to key pilgrimage hubs including Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, Jamalpur, and Deoghar.
Key highlights of the Shravani Mela 2026 travel plan:
- Eastern Railway will operate three major special services, including the Jayanagar-Asansol, Raxaul-Deoghar, and Itwari-Madhupur specials.
- The Ranchi Railway Division is introducing two pairs of bi-weekly trains connecting Ranchi to Bhagalpur.
- Malda Division will run a daily Jamalpur-Sultanganj service, alongside weekly specials to Deoghar and Godda.
- Local authorities have set up 34 round-the-clock information centers to assist pilgrims.
Detailed Train Schedules
The Jayanagar-Asansol Special (05597/05598) will complete 14 trips from July 31 to August 30, running on Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. Simultaneously, the Raxaul-Deoghar Special (05545/05546) will operate on the same schedule, stopping at major stations like Banka, Barahat, and Abhaipur. For those traveling from Itwari, the Itwari-Madhupur Special (08895/08896) offers weekly connectivity starting August 1.
From the Ranchi division, two pairs of bi-weekly trains (08690/08689 and 08646/08645) will run from late July through early September. Additionally, the Malda Division is launching a daily Jamalpur-Sultanganj Special starting July 29, complemented by weekly services between Jamalpur-Deoghar and Deoghar-Godda throughout August.
Safety and Passenger Convenience
Railway officials have prioritized crowd management and passenger comfort for the duration of the Mela. On July 22, 2026, Rail IG Dr. Michaelraj S. conducted comprehensive inspections at Deoghar and Baidyanathdham stations to review security protocols and passenger amenities.
Malda Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta and Ranchi DCM Shreya Singh have confirmed that all necessary measures are being taken to handle the influx of devotees. Furthermore, Deoghar City Commissioner Sulochana Meena and Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar are working in coordination with railway authorities to ensure that 34 information centers remain operational 24/7, providing real-time assistance to pilgrims arriving for the holy festival.
