Anticipating a record-breaking surge in pilgrim footfall, the station is adopting crowd management strategies typically reserved for the Kumbh Mela to ensure passenger safety and operational efficiency.

Enhanced Surveillance and Security Measures
To manage the massive influx of devotees, Station Director Arpit Gupta confirmed that the station has activated a dedicated CCTV war room. These 180 high-tech cameras provide full-scale coverage of all entry points and platforms, allowing officials to monitor crowd density in real-time. The security grid is being further strengthened by a significant increase in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, who will work alongside Quick Response Teams to maintain order during peak hours.
Passenger Amenities and Station Logistics
The railway administration is committed to maintaining a clean and spiritual environment during the holy month. All food outlets within the Varanasi Cantt premises have been strictly instructed to serve only pure vegetarian food. Additionally, a 24-hour cleaning drive will be in effect to handle the high volume of visitors. For those arriving late or facing travel delays, the station will provide special help desks and temporary night shelters (Rain Baseras) to ensure comfort.
Managing the Passenger Surge
With an expected 60 to 70 lakh devotees visiting the city, the station is prepared to handle the load through proactive logistics. The district administration is coordinating with the railways to station ambulances and dedicated medical teams on-site. Furthermore, the railways have formulated a contingency plan that includes keeping empty train rakes reserved and operating special trains as needed to prevent overcrowding.
