The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) and Kota Railway Division have announced a significant project to build 300 modern staff quarters. This project uses a revenue-sharing model where railway land will be used for commercial purposes to fund the construction. Tenders for this development have already been invited by the RLDA to begin the process.

Key features of the Kota Railway housing project
- The project includes the construction of Type-II, III, and IV category quarters for employees.
- Around 1.5 lakh square meters of land at the Workshop and Loco Colony will be used commercially.
- Modern facilities like parking, green areas, and sports facilities will be provided in the new colony.
- The reconstruction includes new road networks, better water supply, and improved sewerage systems.
- The revenue-sharing model makes the project financially self-sustainable for the Indian Railways.

Senior DCM Saurabh Jain stated that the commercial development of the land will generate the necessary funds for the colony reconstruction. This means the Indian Railways does not need to spend separate capital on this project. The initiative is part of a larger plan to utilize vacant railway land productively. Employees will soon have access to modern living spaces with better infrastructure arrangements. This development will provide long-term benefits to the staff stationed in the Kota Division while ensuring the railway land is used for long-term revenue.
