Western Railway has officially resumed the special train service between Bandra Terminus and Gorakhpur Junction to handle the passenger rush. These trains, numbered 05053 and 05054, were previously suspended due to ongoing construction work at the Gorakhpur Junction washing pits. With the work nearing completion, the railway administration decided to reinstate these services starting from the first week of April 2026.

Detailed Schedule and Frequency for Passengers

The special train service operates on a weekly basis, providing a vital link between Mumbai and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Train No. 05053 departs from Gorakhpur every Friday at 07:50 and reaches Bandra Terminus at 18:00 the following Saturday. For the return journey, Train No. 05054 leaves Bandra Terminus every Saturday at 21:45 and arrives at Gorakhpur Junction at 06:25 on Monday morning.

The train is designed to accommodate a large number of passengers with its 22-coach composition. This includes 20 General Second Class coaches, making it a suitable option for budget travelers. It is important to note that these trains operate under special fare rules as notified by Indian Railways.

Route Map and Major Stoppages

The train covers a long route through multiple states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. It provides connectivity to several major industrial and pilgrimage hubs along the way.

State Key Stoppages
Maharashtra Bandra Terminus, Borivali, Palghar
Gujarat Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara Junction
Madhya Pradesh Ratlam Junction, Shamgarh
Rajasthan Bhawani Mandi, Kota Junction, Gangapur City, Bayana Junction
Uttar Pradesh Agra Fort, Tundla, Kanpur Central, Aishbagh, Badshahnagar, Gonda, Basti, Khalilabad, Gorakhpur

The reinstatement of these trains follows the decision by North Eastern Railway and Western Railway to prioritize passenger convenience. Officials stated that the project at Gorakhpur Junction is expected to streamline operations for several such special services in the future.
