The railway administration is extending platforms 2 and 3 to accommodate trains with 23 coaches. This will remove difficulties faced by long-distance trains. Additionally, the stairs of the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) are being widened to manage crowds. A new holding area for passengers will also be created by shifting the parcel office to reduce congestion during festivals.
How will this project impact train speed and facilities?
The modernization includes the implementation of a Route Relay System. Once the extension of platform 2 is complete, its line will be converted into a main track. This change will allow trains to pass at 100 kmph, compared to the current speed of 30 kmph caused by curves and cautions. To help passengers, lifts will be installed on platforms 2 and 3 before the Shravani Mela begins.
