Bihar Road Construction Minister Dr. Dilip Jaiswal has announced a massive infrastructure plan for the 2026-27 financial year. The department has presented a gross budget of 8,260.16 crore rupees in the Legislative Assembly. This budget focuses on building high-speed greenfield corridors and expanding the existing road network to ensure every traveler is within 20 km of a four-lane road.

Details of Proposed Greenfield Corridors
The state government has submitted proposals to the Central Government for two major high-speed corridors. The Pashupatinath-Baidyanath corridor will be 250 km long, connecting the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal to Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand. It will pass through Bihar districts like Supaul, Saharsa, Khagaria, and Banka. The second major project is the Narayani-Ganga corridor, which will cover 225 km from Bagaha to Bhojpur. This project is estimated to cost 15,450 crore rupees and includes a new bridge over the Gandak river.
Expressway Progress and ROB Updates
Several expressway projects are currently moving through different stages of development across Bihar. The government is also working on building Rail Overbridges (ROBs) to reduce traffic jams at railway crossings. The current status of major projects is listed below:

State Road Expansion Targets
Under the Chief Minister’s Road Expansion Scheme, the government plans to widen approximately 5,000 km of single-lane roads into two lanes. This move is intended to improve rural connectivity and link villages to main highways. Additionally, land acquisition for the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata expressway is progressing after a recent change in its alignment. A special committee has been formed to manage these projects under the Saat Nishchay-3 development program.
