How will this service benefit traders and fruit growers in Jammu and Kashmir
This rapid cargo connection is designed to maintain the freshness of fruits like cherries and apples by reducing transit time significantly. It offers a more affordable and secure alternative to road transport, which often faces delays due to weather conditions on the national highway. Local products such as saffron, walnuts, and pashmina shawls can now reach national markets more efficiently. Senior officials from the Jammu Division stated that the service was introduced following consistent requests from the local trading community to strengthen the regional economy. The railway aims to provide a reliable supply chain that ensures local produce reaches Delhi within 24 hours.
