Passengers at Gorakhpur Junction will soon have a easier way to move between platforms. The North Eastern Railway (NER) is constructing a new Western Foot Overbridge (FOB) as part of the station’s redevelopment plan. This new bridge will replace an old, dilapidated structure to improve passenger flow.
When will the new FOB open for passengers?
The railway administration planned to open the first lane of the Western FOB by May to handle the increase in passenger traffic during the summer months. The second lane is expected to be completed and ready for use before Dussehra. Pankaj Kumar Singh, CPRO-NER, has already directed the working agency to speed up the process near platform number one.
What are the key features of the new bridge?
The new Western Foot Overbridge is designed as a two-lane structure to prevent crowding. Each lane will have a width of three meters, providing ample space for commuters. Currently, about 60% of the foundation work near the old GRP police station building is finished.
