Indian Railways Logo Update: New official logo with 18 stars to be effective from June 1, 2026

The Ministry of Railways has approved a change to the official Indian Railways logo. This updated version will be implemented across all operations starting June 1, 2026. The Railway Board has already sent instructions to all zonal railways, production units, and training institutes to adopt the new design.

Why is the Indian Railway logo changing?

The change is happening because of the creation of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) as the 18th railway zone. In the railway logo, each star represents a specific zone. Since the previous logo had 17 stars, a new star is being added to include the South Coast Railway, headquartered in Visakhapatnam. The new emblem will now feature 18 red stars to match the current administrative structure.
