The Jodhpur Division of the North Western Railway has officially rolled out a new token and queue management system for Tatkal ticket bookings at all reservation centers, effective July 13, 2026. This initiative is designed to eliminate the chaos often associated with last-minute bookings, ensuring a more transparent and orderly environment for passengers. By introducing a structured token process, the railway aims to significantly reduce overcrowding at counters.
- Tokens are distributed daily starting at 8 AM to manage the queue efficiently.
- The number of Tatkal counters at the Jodhpur reservation office has been doubled from three to six.
- IRCTC will launch a new beta website and app on July 15, 2026, to simplify the user interface.
- Mandatory OTP verification for Tatkal bookings begins on July 15, 2026, to curb touting activities.
Enhanced Booking Experience in Jodhpur
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Hitesh Yadav, the primary goal of this new arrangement is to make the booking process passenger-friendly. The system is particularly beneficial for senior citizens, women, and travelers arriving from remote locations, who previously faced difficulties during the high-demand Tatkal rush. By increasing the number of active counters, the division is ensuring that the booking capacity can handle the daily surge in demand while maintaining order.
Digital Upgrades and Security Measures
In a significant move to modernize the passenger experience, the IRCTC is set to release a new beta version of its website and app on July 15, 2026. This update focuses on speed and convenience by removing unnecessary obstacles like captchas, pop-ups, and flashing graphics. The new platform will allow passengers to view seat availability across all classes simultaneously and save passenger details for faster checkouts, which is a major advantage for those booking Tatkal tickets.
Furthermore, to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access by touts, OTP-based verification will become mandatory for both online and counter bookings starting July 15, 2026. This requirement will apply to all computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and authorized agents, ensuring that only genuine passengers can secure their seats. These combined efforts reflect the Indian Railways’ commitment to leveraging technology and infrastructure to provide a seamless travel experience for all.
