This move comes after the temporary suspension of the service to facilitate a “Holiday Special” train that catered to the surge in tourist footfall during the peak summer months between May 25 and July 15, 2026. With the restoration of this service, passengers can once again enjoy the scenic UNESCO World Heritage route for a highly economical fare of ₹50.

Schedule and Operational Details
Managed by the Ambala railway division, the “Mix Up-Down” train serves as a vital link for both tourists and locals. The Up Mix Train departs from Kalka at 8:00 AM, reaching the hill station of Shimla between 1:35 PM and 1:55 PM. For the return journey, the Down Mix Train departs Shimla at 5:00 PM, arriving back at Kalka station between 10:10 PM and 10:22 PM.
