Indian Railways has started the construction of a new railway line bridge near the new bus stand in Mathura. To facilitate this work, the road has been dug up to one foot, leading to significant traffic disruptions in the area. The project is being carried out on a war footing to ensure timely completion.
What is the construction schedule and plan?
The construction work started on 24 June 2026 and will continue until 7 July 2026. This 14-day project is divided into two phases to manage traffic. For the first seven days, work is being done on one side of the road, and the following seven days will focus on the other side. This plan was finalized in meetings chaired by DM Chandra Prakash Singh on 18 June and 20 June 2026.
How is the traffic being managed in Mathura?
The traffic department has implemented a diversion plan to handle the congestion. Currently, heavy vehicles are completely banned from the construction zone, which has led to traffic jams from Bhuteshwar Tiraha to Deeg Gate. While one side of the road is closed, only pedestrians and two-wheelers are allowed to move through the remaining side. SP Traffic Rajesh Tiwari and Municipal Commissioner Jag Pravesh are monitoring the situation to keep vehicles moving through designated routes.
