Moradabad Railway Station is all set to become much safer for passengers with the introduction of an advanced facial recognition system. This high-tech setup will help security agencies like the RPF and GRP identify wanted criminals as soon as they enter the station premises. Indian Railways has already allocated funds for this project in the budget as per the Pink Book details.

How does the facial recognition system work?
The new system uses IP-based cameras that are connected to the internet and do not require traditional DVR units. All the video data will be stored securely in the railway’s cloud system. These cameras are designed to work with high accuracy during both day and night hours. Security officials can monitor the live feed directly from their mobile phones or computers. When a person identified as a criminal or wanted individual appears on camera, the system will immediately send an alert to the Station Master, RPF, and GRP cabins.
Phase-wise implementation and station list
In the first phase of this security upgrade, the divisional headquarters at Moradabad will get the new equipment along with other key stations. This plan is part of a larger national initiative where Indian Railways aims to cover around 2000 stations with similar technology. The installation work is expected to start soon to ensure better surveillance and passenger protection.
