Northern Railway has officially announced a series of operational adjustments affecting the Bareilly-Moradabad rail corridor to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades. Passengers travelling through this busy section should prepare for service changes and potential delays as authorities conduct critical track maintenance and washing line repairs. These adjustments are effective from July 23, 2026, and will continue through August 7, 2026.
Key updates for passengers include:
- Essential maintenance includes 25 traffic blocks and washing line upkeep at Bareilly Junction.
- Three major trains diverted via Moradabad-Chandausi-Bareilly Cantt on July 23, bypassing Rampur and Bareilly Junction.
- Significant delays expected for long-distance express services through early August.
- Authorities have assured improved facilities for the upcoming Urs-e-Razvi event.
Diversions and Operational Changes
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mahesh Yadav confirmed that the maintenance work is necessary for long-term safety and efficiency. On July 23, the 13042 Jammu Tawi-Howrah Express, 15910 Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Express, and 13152 Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Express are diverted via the Moradabad-Chandausi-Bareilly Cantt route. These trains will skip their scheduled stops at Rampur and Bareilly Junction, but will instead make a special halt at Bareilly Cantt Station to accommodate passengers.
Anticipated Delays and Passenger Advisory
Several other trains are slated for delays as work progresses. The 12204 Amritsar-Saharsa Express faces a 90-minute delay on July 26, with shorter delays expected on August 1 and 5. Similarly, the 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Express may see delays of up to 90 minutes on July 24, 26, 28, 30, and August 3 and 5. Other services, including the 14603 Nautanwa-Amritsar Express, 15128 New Delhi-Banaras Express, 20506 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, and 55301 Moradabad-Lalkuan Passenger, will also experience varying transit times.
These maintenance efforts follow a challenging week for Northern Railway, which recently managed the aftermath of a coal-laden freight train derailment in Sahibabad on July 21 that impacted 53 rail services. Meanwhile, officials are already planning for high passenger footfall during the 108th Urs-e-Razvi event in Bareilly, scheduled for August 6-8. DCM Mahesh Yadav has assured that special arrangements will be made to handle the surge in pilgrims. Passengers are strongly advised to check the live status of their trains via the NTES app or the official IRCTC website before heading to the station.
