Vande Bharat Sleeper Train update
The first sleeper Vande Bharat Express train in the country is getting ready to run from Patna Junction. It is expected to start operations in 2026. This high-tech train will run on the Rajdhani route, providing passengers with a fast, comfortable, and modern travel experience.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is planned to operate on the Patna–Delhi route, stopping at DDU Junction, Prayagraj, and Kanpur Central. It is expected to reach Delhi faster than the Tejas Rajdhani Express, benefiting passengers traveling at night.
Discussions are ongoing about the fare for the train, with the possibility of it being 20 to 25 percent higher than the Sampurna Kranti Express. Due to the amenities similar to the Tejas Rajdhani Express, the fare may be in the premium category. Final decisions on fares may be made within the next 10 days.
The project faced delays due to modernization work on the regular pit line for the Vande Bharat Sleeper. The work, which was supposed to be completed in six months, took almost two years. However, the pit line work is nearly finished now, with hopes of completion by the end of December.
The first successful trial of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express was conducted in December 2024 between Khajuraho Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh and Mahoba Station in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Bihar passengers may find this sleeper train a game-changer, with modern coaches, better sleeping arrangements, faster speeds, and limited stops for long-distance travelers.
