Indian Railways has announced a massive expansion plan for the financial year 2025-26. The Ministry of Railways approved 100 new projects with a total investment of over ₹1.53 lakh crore. This plan aims to expand the rail network by more than 6,000 kilometers under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

What are the key details of the expansion plan

The new plan shows a significant jump in investment and coverage compared to the previous year. Project approvals increased by 56 percent, while route coverage grew by 114 percent. The financial commitment has also seen a rise of over 110 percent to ensure faster development of the network.
