The South East Central Railway (SECR) has announced the cancellation of 10 trains in Chhattisgarh between June 22 and July 3, 2026. This decision comes as the Bilaspur Division carries out essential infrastructure work to improve rail connectivity. Passengers are advised to check their train status before starting their journey.
Why are these trains cancelled?
The cancellations are due to non-interlocking work at Jangir–Naila station. This project involves the commissioning of an auto-signalling system and the creation of fourth-line connectivity. Additionally, development work is being carried out by the West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division and Bilaspur Division, which affects train operations across the region.
Which trains and routes are affected?
Several MEMU and passenger trains have been cancelled during this period. Some major express trains will also see changes in their operations:
- Chhattisgarh Express: Will operate as a passenger train or be short-terminated/originated between Korba and Bilaspur.
- Hasdeo Express: Will operate as a passenger train or be short-terminated/originated between Korba and Bilaspur.
The work at Jangir–Naila station will happen in phases from June 22 to July 5, leading to these diversions and cancellations.
What is the impact of this work?
According to retired railway official V.K. Gupta, such maintenance work is necessary for long-term efficiency. These upgrades will help in reducing track congestion and increasing the overall speed of trains. Earlier, 86 trains were cancelled for work at Champa station, but those were restored after the work was postponed.
