Enhanced Passenger Experience and Infrastructure
Located just 1.5 kilometers away from the UNESCO World Heritage Sanchi Stupas, the station has been redesigned to reflect local heritage while offering modern functionality. According to Harshit Srivastava, Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway, the station now features a spacious circulating area, upgraded waiting rooms, and a significantly expanded 12-meter-wide foot overbridge, up from the previous 4.5-meter width, to ensure better crowd management and passenger safety.
Additional upgrades include modern train indicator boards, advanced coach guidance systems, and dedicated facilities to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities. These improvements are designed to meet the infrastructural needs of the region for the next 40 to 50 years.
A New Era for Railway Stations
Beyond just travel, the redeveloped stations are envisioned to serve as vibrant “City Centers” that integrate commercial activities into the railway ecosystem. The inauguration ceremony will be marked by a series of events starting at 2 PM, including cultural programs, screenings of short films, and award distributions at the station premises. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the modernization of Indian Railways, ensuring that passengers experience comfort, convenience, and efficiency at every step of their journey.
