Indian Railways is set to significantly enhance connectivity in Punjab and Haryana with the introduction of a new daily express service and the extension of an existing long-distance train. Following formal approval from the Railway Board on July 8, 2026, these developments aim to improve travel convenience for commuters across the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off these services, which were initiated following a request from former Minister and MP Anurag Thakur.
Key highlights of the new rail connectivity include:
• Launch of the new 14502/14501 Kartoli-Ambala City Daily Express.
• Extension of the existing 14053/14054 Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Express to Kartoli.
• The new services feature AC coach facilities for passenger comfort.
• Strategic stoppages at major stations including Una Himachal, Nangal Dam, and Rupnagar.
New Kartoli-Ambala City Express Operations
The new 14502 Kartoli-Ambala City Express is scheduled to depart from Kartoli daily at 08:30 hrs, reaching its destination at 12:55 hrs. For the return journey, the 14501 Ambala City-Kartoli Express will depart Ambala City at 16:15 hrs, arriving back in Kartoli at 20:25 hrs. This route is designed to benefit daily commuters, with scheduled halts at Daulatpur Chowk, Amb Andaura, Una Himachal, Nangal Dam, Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar, Morinda, Sirhind, and Rajpura.
Extension of Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Express
Beyond the new daily service, passengers will also benefit from the extension of the 14053/14054 Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Express, which will now serve Kartoli. The extended 14053 Express will depart from Delhi at 22:50 hrs and arrive in Kartoli at 07:50 hrs. Conversely, the 14054 Kartoli-Delhi Express will depart Kartoli at 20:55 hrs, reaching Delhi at 05:00 hrs.
Railway authorities have clarified that the 04506 inauguration special train number is exclusively linked to the Kalka-Shimla Special and is not associated with the Kartoli-Ambala route. While the approvals have been finalized, the specific commencement dates for these services will be announced by the relevant railway zones in the coming days.
