Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the newly redeveloped Nainpur Railway Station on Friday, July 17, 2026. The project, completed at a cost of ₹17.86 crore, is part of a massive national initiative to upgrade 75 stations across 20 states. This development falls under the Indian Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which seeks to modernize 1,275 stations nationwide to provide world-class amenities to passengers.
Key highlights of the Nainpur station redevelopment include:
- Project cost of approximately ₹17.86 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
- Integration of local tribal art and cultural themes into the station’s architecture
- Enhanced accessibility with lifts, ramps, tactile paths, and Divyangjan-friendly features
- Installation of CCTV cameras, high-mast LED lighting, and digital display boards
- Eco-friendly initiatives including rainwater harvesting and energy conservation
- New infrastructure like a 12-meter wide foot overbridge and Jan Aushadhi Kendras
Modern Infrastructure Meets Cultural Heritage
Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh under the South East Central Railway (SECR) Nagpur Division, the station has undergone a significant transformation. The design philosophy focuses on the theme of ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’, blending modern functionality with the region’s rich tribal heritage. Travelers will notice wall paintings and structural designs inspired by bamboo and local natural materials, reflecting the local culture.
Enhanced Passenger Amenities
Beyond the aesthetic upgrades, the station now offers a superior passenger experience. Commuters can benefit from improved seating, clean drinking water facilities, and modernized waiting rooms. The station also features ‘One Station One Product’ stalls, which are designed to support local artisans and boost the regional economy. Safety has been prioritized with the installation of modern announcement systems and comprehensive CCTV surveillance.
By incorporating sustainable practices such as efficient waste management and maximizing the use of natural light, the station serves as a model for future railway infrastructure development. The inclusion of Jan Aushadhi Kendras further ensures that passengers have access to affordable medicines while on the move, marking a significant step forward in the modernization of smaller railway hubs across the country.
